I C F C A N O E N E W S - 5 / 99 ************************************************ FLASH from CANOEING SPORT SLALOM COURSE IN SYDNEY OPEN -- NEW DISCIPLINES IN ICF -- WORLDS CANOE SLALOM 2000 IN BOURG-ST-MAURICE / FRANCE -- NEW ICF HEADQUARTER IN MADRID / SPAIN 1) The Canoe Slalom Course in Penrith / Australien for the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games is now open. This construction was done as a direct result of strong pressure from ICF and its Federations to re-instate Slalom Canoeing in the 2000 program. And the sport of Canoeing has contributed 25% to the total costs of 6'000'000 AUS$. The Board of Directors of the International Canoe Federation (ICF) with President Ulrich Feldhoff (De) has, at its Meeting in Madrid (Sp), made the following important decisions: 2) On the recommendation of AGFIS, Dragonboat, Rafting, Outrigger, Kayak-Surf and Waveski are now recognised canoe disciplines of the ICF. This was a unanimous decision of the ICF Board in Madrid. 3) The Slalom World Championships 2002 has been awarded to Bourg-St-Maurice Les Arc (Savoie / France). They beat a strong proposal from Prague (CZE).
