| Last year Jütland's only professional club surprisingly won the title. Alborg's very good home record has much to do with the enthusiastic fans. Roughly 13 000 spectators usually attend the top games. Las season the defense was coach Backe's greatest problem. On the left and in the center the defense was uncoordinated and undisciplined. Moreover, the Norwegian international Stale Solbakken never got back into the shape he was in the year before. The former player with Wimbledon will miss the first UIC rounds as much as Sweden's Anders Andersson (formerly Blackburn), the other central midfielder, as they both play the European Championship. Striker Frank Strandli suffered from a groin injury, which reduced the performance of the team even more. At least the tall midfielder Allan Gaarde was in good shape, and in attack Sören Frederiksen and Estonia's international Andres Oper wreak havoc in the opponents' defence. After playing ten years for Aalborg, captain Jens Jessen moved to Midtjyllan, which was promoted this year. At the end of the year coach Backe, who was successful with AIK Stockholm, Mode and Stabaek, was replaced by Peter Rudbaek, who in turn was fired by Aarhus at the beginning of April. | |
| Letztes Jahr gewann der einzige Profiklub Jütlands überraschend den Titel. Viel zur ausgeprägten Heimstärke Aalborgs trugen die enthusiastischen Anhänger bei. Rund 13'000 Zuschauer verfolgten jeweils die Spitzenspiele. Bildete damals die Abwehr die Basis zum Erfolg, so war sie vergangene Saison das grösste Problem von Trainer Hans Backe. Sowohl links wie im Zentrum fehlte es an der Abstimmung und Disziplin. Zudem fand der norwegische Internationale Stale Solbakken nie mehr zu seiner letztjährigen Form zurück. Neben dem Ex-Wimbledonspieler wird zumindest während der ersten Runden im UEFA-Intertoto-Cup auch der Schwede Anders Andersson (ex-Blackburn), der andere zentrale Mittelfeldspieler, an der EM weilen. Stürmer Frank Strandli fiel in diesem Frühling wegen einer Leistenverletzung aus, was die Leistungen der Mannschaft zusätzlich beeinträchtigte. Immerhin wusste der grossgewachsene Allan Gaarde im linken Mittelfeld zu gefallen. Und im Angriff sorgten Sören Frederiksen und der estische Internationale Andres Oper für Gefahr. Nach zehnjähriger Klubtreue wechselte Captain Jens Jessen im Juni zum Aufsteiger Midtjylland. Ende Jahr wird Trainer Backe, der einst mit AIK Stockholm, Mode und Stabaek erfolgreich war, von Peter Rudbaek abgelöst. Der wurde Anfang April bei Aarhus entlassen. | |
