| Dynamo Tiflis was the only Georgian team ever to win the Soviet championship, namely in 1964 and 1978. After the collapse of the Soviet Union they won the Georgian championship ten times in a row, which made them the showcase of Georgian football. This spring Dynamo had to let go two of his best players. After the first round the offensive midfielder Rati Aleksidse (21) was sold to Chelsea, and striker Micheil Achvetia (22) went to Alania Wladikawkas (Russia). Moreover, the former international Otar Kurgalidse was replaced by Djelal Tchimakadse as the coach. With strong strikers missing, Dynamo scored only 19 goals in 14 games and tied five consecutive games in the final stage of the championship, which cost them the title. Of the many young internationals only captain Giwi Didawa remained, who is considered the best player of the league by experts. Thanks to the outstanding defense (only four goals conceded) the club did not lose a single match. But lately Dynamo lost class and popularity with the population. | |
| Als einziger georgischer Vertreter gewann Dynamo Tiflis je die sowjetische Meisterschaft, nämlich 1964 und 1978. Nach dem Zerfall der UDSSR siegte es sogar zehn Mal in Serie und bildete das Aushängeschild des georgischen Fussballs. In diesem Frühling verlor Dynamo zwei seiner besten Spieler. Nach der 1. Meisterschaftsrunde wurden der offensive Mittelfeldspieler Rati Aleksidse (21) an Chelsea und der Stürmer Micheil Aschwetia (22) an Alania Wladikawkas (RUS) verkauft. Zudem löste Djelal Tschimakadse den Ex-Nationalspieler Otar Kurgalidse als Trainer ab. Mangels valabler Stürmer erzielte Dynamo vergangene Saison in 14 Spielen nur 19 Tore und spielte in der entscheidenden Phase fünf Mal unentschieden in Serie, was ihm letztlich den Titel kostete. Von den vielen jungen Nationalspielern blieb nur noch Captain Giwi Didawa übrig, der von Experten als bester Spieler der Liga angesehen wird. Dabei hatte es dank der hervorragenden Abwehr (nur vier Gegentreffer) kein Spiel verloren. Mit der spielerischen Klasse verlor Dynamo zuletzt auch an Popularität in der Bevölkerung. | |
