| Before 1995 Stabaek was promoted from 4th league to the highest division within seven years. Since their 3:1 win in the 1998 cup final over Rosenborg Trondheim the club from an Oslo suburb had to sell a number of key players such as the goal-keeper of the national team, Frode Olsen (Sevilla), midfielders Jesper Jansson (Genk) and Martin Andresen, who went to Wimbledon for 4.5 million Swiss Francs. Striker Helgi Sigurdsson, member of the Iceland national team, moved to Panathinaikos Athens. Despite these losses, coach Anders Linderoth, who took part in the 1978 World Cup in Argentina with the Swedish team, still favors the technically skilled build-up with short passes in midfield. He wants to see the ball kept on the ground and dislikes long passes from defense to the strikers. Of all the players his son Tobias is the first and best to follow this order. Tobias Linderoth is a pillar of Sweden's U21 team, too. Stabaek continue to rely on the scoring abilities of Petter Belsvik who has already scored 146 times in the highest Norwegian league. | |
| Bis 1995 stieg Stabaek innert sieben Jahren von der 4. Liga in die oberste Spielklasse auf. Seit dem 3:1-Sieg gegen Rosenborg Trondheim im Cupfinal 1998 hat der Vororts-Verein Oslos mehrere Schlüsselspieler abgeben müssen. Zu den Wegzügen gehörten Nationalgoalie Frode Olsen (Sevilla), die Mittelfeldspieler Jesper Jansson (Genk) und Martin Andresen, der für 4,5 Mio. Schweizer Franken zu Wimbledon zog. Stürmer Helgi Sigurdsson, Mitglied der isländischen Landesauswahl, wechselte zu Panathinaikos Athen. Trotz diesen Abgängen predigt Trainer Anders Linderoth, der mit Schweden an der WM 1978 in Argentinien teilnahm, weiterhin einen geordneten, technisch kultivierten Spielaufbau mit kurzen Pässen im Mittelfeld. Nach seinen Ideen muss der Ball möglichst tief gehalten werden; lange Bälle aus der Verteidigung mag er nicht. Diese Order vermag ausgerechnet sein Sohn am besten umzusetzen. Tobias ist auch Leistungsträger in der U21-Auswahl Schwedens. Im Angriff setzt Stabaek weiterhin auf die Treffsicherheit von Petter Belsvik, der mittlerweilen bei 146 Treffern in der obersten Liga Norwegens angelangt ist. | |
