With a population of 150 000, Petrzalka is the largest quarter of the Slovak capital so that Artmedia’s matches draw a larger attendance than the two great clubs with a higher potential. It is not president and mayor Vladimir Bajan who is the most important person in the club, but Ivan Kmotrik, owner of the publicity company Artmedia and the largest print shop in town. In the Czechoslovakia era (1945 to 1982) Petrzalka played in the top league only twice. When coach Vladimir Weiss was replaced by Dusan Galis this spring, the team began a successful run which ended in the best result in the club’s history. Therefore, the UIC match in Lituania will be the first international match ever. With Vladimir Kinder (formerly Middlesbrough) and 23 time international Jozef Majoros (formerly Aris Saloniki) there are only two players with international experience. Der Sitz des Vereins liegt am rechten Ufer der Donau gegenüber den Gebäuden von Inter und Slovan Bratislava. Mit 150 000 Einwohnern ist Petrzalka der grösste Bezirk der slowakischen Hauptstadt, weshalb die Spiele meist besser besucht sind als jene der sportlich besseren Grossklubs. Der "starke" Mann im Verein ist nicht Präsident und Bürgermeister Vladimir Bajan sondern Ivan Kmotrik, Besitzer der Werbeagentur Artmedia und der grössten Druckerei in der Stadt. In der Tschechoslowakei(1945-92) gab Petrzalka nur zwei kurze Gastspiele in der höchsten Liga, wo es sich erst seit 1996 etablieren konnte. Mit Dusan Galis an Stelle von Vladimir Weiss als Trainer setzte die Mannschaft in diesem Frühling zum Höhenflug an und erreichte das beste Ergebnis der Vereinsgeschichte. Das UEFA-Intertoto-Cupspiel in Litauen ist somit die internationale Premiere des Vereins. Erfahrung auf dieser Stufe haben nur Verteidiger Vladimir Kinder (ex-Middlesbrough) und der 23fache Internationale Jozef Majoros (ex-Aris Saloniki).
